Library board approves new assistant post, forms bylaws review panel

Wales Public Library · Meeting of January 12, 2026

Wales Public Library Board of Trustees approves request for new Library Assistant position and creates ByLaws SubCommittee. The board voted unanimously to ask the Board of Selectmen to post the new position and unanimously established the subcommittee to review library governance, with trustee Sue Gregory volunteering to assist. The library faces ongoing staffing challenges: employee Jill Pourmand resigned January 12 citing nursing school demands, and another employee, Jonathan Cuppini, remains unpaid for December after his paperwork encountered processing delays at Town Hall.

The library's Amazon account is frozen due to nonpayment, and Library Director Kara Jund's work hours continue to exceed her paid 25-hour weekly allocation.
