Conservation Commission · Meeting of April 7, 2026
Wales Conservation Commission unanimously approves prior minutes, greenlights lake best-practices outreach. Chair Zachery Berry and the five-member board agreed to distribute an annual pamphlet to residents within 300 feet of the lake aimed at improving shoreline protection. In separate business, the commission heard a presentation from Norcross Wildlife Foundation's Ed Hood and MassAudubon's Linda Hutchins on an Ecological Restoration Project to remove four jurisdictional dams on Vinica Brook; three dams are in poor condition and one in fair condition per Massachusetts Office of Dam Safety reports.
Norcross will pursue permitting through multiple state agencies and the Wales Conservation Commission, with commission site visits requested once permitting begins.
